Location: Angleton Recreation Center
Salary: $16.25 per hour

SUMMARY
This position will be responsible to operate a 24-passenger bus for the purpose of transporting and sometimes leading a group of participants, particularly senior citizens, for various recreational activities.

The position requires contractor to be available to work a flexible work schedule which may include evening and weekend hours.

**This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.


SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducts the following duties, where a momentary lapse of attention can have a disastrous consequence to the employee or the public.

Contractor will be responsible for making split-second decisions to implement the emergency action plan as it relates to emergencies while on-route in the City of Angleton recreational bus and on location of destination site.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by Contractor. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of Contractor.       
This position description is subject to change by the city as the needs of the city and requirements of the position change.

  • Responsible for transporting program participants, particularly senior citizens, to and from destination sites in a safe and timely manner.
  • Responsible for knowing and obeying all laws concerning a 24-passenger bus.
  • Responsible for knowing and abiding by local and state bus policies.
  • Responsible for knowing and obeying all traffic laws.
  • Receives and responds appropriately to citizen inquiries and complaints, routes information to appropriate City personnel.
  • Responsible to supervise transported senior citizens at destination site and at times will serve as lead guide. This shall include reservation check-in and check-out, performing roll call to ensure group is together when needed. 
  • Creating and maintaining a positive environment for all participants.
  • Maintain a clean bus before trip is set to begin as well as after return. This includes maintaining gas, picking up and taking out trash and cleaning up possible spills and debris on vehicle.
  • Respond to and report accidents and incidents in accordance with organizational emergency action plan.
  • Report mechanical problems to supervisory staff.
  • Responsible for complying with all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for making split-second decisions to implement the emergency action plan as it relates to emergencies while on-route in the City of Angleton recreational bus and on location of destination site.
  • Expected to perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING (Certification/Licensure):

  • The City, requires the contractor to hold a current Texas CDL license in good standing, and have certification from the American Red Cross in First Aid, and CPR with AED.
  • The City, prefers the Contractor to have experience related to transportation and working with the senior population.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Contractor to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

The person ,in this position, is required to Frequently sit; stand; use their hands and digits to manipulate objects; bend, stoop; talk on the phone and radio, and Occasionally be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Contractor may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

Frequently works in all settings which includes indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions – heat, cold, inclement weather exposed to moderate to high noise levels during normal job duties.
