Description

SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for operating a 24-passenger bus to transport program participants, particularly senior citizens, or youth camps (summer and spring break), for various recreational activities.
The position requires applicant to be available to work a flexible work schedule which may include regular evenings and weekend hours.
 

**This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.**
 

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts the following duties, where a momentary lapse of attention can have a disastrous consequence to the employee or the public:
Responsible for making split-second decisions to implement the emergency action plan as it relates to emergencies while on-route in the City of Angleton recreational bus and on location of destination site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individual(s) assigned to this position.   • Responsible for transporting program participants to and from destination sites in a safe and timely manner. Programs can include monthly senior citizen trips and summer camp field trips.
  • Responsible for knowing and obeying all laws concerning a 24-passenger bus.
  • Responsible for knowing and abiding by local and state bus policies.
  • Responsible for knowing and obeying all traffic laws.
  • Receives and responds appropriately to citizen inquiries and complaints, routes information to appropriate City personnel.
  • Assist patrons with boarding and disembarking the bus, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey.
  • Uphold a professional and courteous demeanor at all times, representing Angleton Parks & Recreation in a positive light.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Respond to and report accidents and incidents in accordance with organizational emergency action plan.
  • Report mechanical problems to supervisory staff.
  • Responsible for complying with all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for making split-second decisions to implement the emergency action plan as it relates to emergencies while on-route in the City of Angleton recreational bus and on location of destination site.
  • Expected to perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING (Certification/Licensure):
The preferred way to obtain the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. The city reserves the right to allow substitutions if a candidate or incumbent exceeds requirements in one area but may be deficient in another.

Education and Experience
Minimum of 1 year parks and recreation experience or experience related to transportation and working with the senior population. Experience with ADA lifts preferred.

Special Licenses, Certifications and Designations

  • Applicant must have a valid Texas Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) in good standing with a P endorsement.
  • American Red Cross First Aid, and CPR with AED are required.

The person in this position is required to Frequently sit; stand; use their hands and digits to manipulate objects; bend, stoop; talk on the phone and radio, and Occasionally be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
