Description

SUMMARY

Operates sewage treatment, sludge processor, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plants to control the flow and processing of sewage.

 

** This position is safety-sensitive and subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The statements below describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual(s) assigned to this position.   • Monitors control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate sewage flow.
  • Observe variations in operating conditions, interpret meter and gauge readings, and test results to determine load requirements.
  • Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control sewage flow through filtering, settling aeration, and sludge digestion processes.
  • Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings.
  • Collects sewage samples and conducts laboratory tests.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and required.
  • Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Prepare correspondence.
  • Utilize mathematics skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Solving basic problems with little to no oversight


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Texas Class "C" Driver's License in good standing is required.
  • Class “C" Waster Water Certification required.
