Location: Recreation Center and Wildcat Stadium Angleton High School

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt; Seasonal; Part Time

Average Hours/Week: 7-9 hours per week; M-T-Th

 

 

SUMMARY

The head track coach promotes appreciation for physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This position provides leadership and supervision of the “Road Warriors” Summer Track Program and supervises two assistant coaches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual(s) assigned to this position.   • Supervises children and staff in the Road Warriors Track Program
  • Responsible for making split-second decisions to implement the emergency action plan, as it relates to emergencies in or about the Recreation Center involving children.
  • Assists in the design of a training program and practice meet program.
  • Ensure proper program implementation through organization and staff supervision.
  • Ensures athletic activities conform to the City and Angleton ISD guidelines.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, community, partners, and children alike.
  • Responsible for working effectively with change.
  • Supports the values of physical fitness and education.
  • Required to attend the Coaches' training and other training as assigned.
  • Assists with set-up and tear-down of the program.
  • Ensures proper equipment storage and cleaning to safeguard facilities and equipment.
  • Maintains a safe and controlled environment; identifies hazardous conditions and eliminates or minimizes such.
  • Ensure non-public areas are always secure.
  • Recognizes and responds effectively to incidents and emergencies; provides proper emergency care through use of first-aid, CPR, AED, etc. when necessary.
  • Reports to work free of the effects of illegal drugs, alcohol, and prescription drugs which may impair work ability.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING (Certification/Licensure):

The preferred way to obtain the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. The city reserves the right to allow substitutions if a candidate or incumbent exceeds requirements in one area but may be deficient in another.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or currently enrolled in high school.
  • Some track and field or running experience is required.

Special Licenses, Certifications and Designations

  • Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License preferred.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain.
